Wellington has a fantastic network of walking tracks and places to explore. Check out our selection of Wellington Walks, with more than 20 day walks to choose from there is an adventure for everyone.
Choose from a list of stunning harbour view walks, coastal walks, majestic walking tracks on the eastern and western hills to the astounding back-country scenery of the Rimutaka and Tararua Forest Parks.
To help plan your adventure, each of these Wellington Walks has the following information:
- Track description
- Maps.
- How to get to them.
- What to take.
We also have helpful links to apparel and equipment…taking the right gear is paramount for your safety. You can’t beat Wellington on a good day, however, weather conditions can change very quickly so going prepared is essential. The majority of these Wellington Walks are on bushwalking tracks and can be enjoyed all year round, however, caution needs to be taken. Wet weather can make tracks slippery and side streams can rise very quickly so check weather forecasts and what you need to take.
These tracks are what I consider to be the best one-day hiking trails in Wellington. All of which I have hiked myself. So get your tramping boots on and start exploring today!
